| Beyond Pink TEAM Receives Support for Beyond Pink Fund | ||||||
|
The Beyond Pink TEAM was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Northeast Iowa Community Foundation. In addition to the grant, the Beyond Pink TEAM received $1,455 from the Women in Philanthropy group, a program of the Community Foundation.
The funds will help fund the Beyond Pink Fund. The Fund was created to provide financial assistance to women with breast care needs. Assistance may include helping with the cost of diagnostic testing, breast prosthesis fitting and replacement, lymph edema services, and other financial hardships families face when battling breast cancer. To apply for assistance from the Beyond Pink Fund, patients need to be referred by their breast care provider. Dee Hughes, chair of the Beyond Pink TEAM, is thrilled to finally have the funds to provide assistance to women in the Cedar Valley. “Over the years, the Beyond Pink TEAM has been asked many times if we have funds to help a woman in need of assistance during her breast cancer screening and treatment, and we didn’t,” said Hughes. “We started the Beyond Pink Fund to help meet those needs and have spent the last year and a half building up the fund. This grant from the Community Foundation enabled us to reach our goal so we can begin helping women and men with breast cancer issues.” The Beyond Pink TEAM focuses on breast cancer in the Cedar Valley. A program of the Cedar Valley Cancer Committee, the Beyond Pink TEAM is a non-profit organization made possible by the collaborative efforts of many health organizations, businesses and dedicated individuals’ throughout the Cedar Valley. Going beyond pink ribbons, beyond pink light bulbs, beyond pink trinkets; Beyond Pink, we accomplish our mission by Taking action, Education, Advocating and Making a difference. |
