| Pink Ribbon Bagel Benefits Cedar Valley Breast Cancer Group | ||||||
|
The Beyond Pink TEAM is excited to announce it has been selected by Panera Bread of Iowa as a partner organization for Panera’s Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign during October, 2007. This campaign acts as both a fundraising and an awareness campaign for local breast cancer groups.
As part of the campaign, Panera Bread Bakery-Cafes will donate 25˘ from every Pink Ribbon Bagel sold, to the Beyond Pink TEAM. The Beyond Pink TEAM is fortunate to benefit from sales at both the Waterloo and Cedar Falls Panera locations. All proceeds from the Pink Ribbon Bagel sales are used to further the breast cancer activities of the Beyond Pink TEAM, such as; providing a support group to women with breast cancer, producing a quarterly newsletter focused on breast cancer awareness and updates, offering free and reduced cost screening mammograms for women who can’t afford it, and lobbying legislators to support breast cancer research funding. The Pink Ribbon Bagel is baked fresh daily and features cherry chips and real bits of Bing cherries and cranberries. In the “think pink” tradition, the bakers form the bagels into awareness ribbon shape before baking. The Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign was first developed in 2001 by Sue Stees, a Panera franchise owner and breast cancer survivor. The Beyond Pink TEAM is now excited to be invited to participate and use those funds towards its breast cancer activities in the Cedar Valley. Dee Hughes, chairperson of the Beyond Pink TEAM was pleased to be chosen as a local partner with Panera Bread of Iowa. “The Beyond Pink TEAM is very fortunate to partner with a larger company, such as Panera Bread of Iowa, who values the importance of local organizations,” said Hughes. “We are providing services to the women of the Cedar Valley that national organizations are not able to provide for us. It takes a lot of time and money to provide these services, so the power of larger companies partnering with us increases our effectiveness.” For more information about the Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign or the Beyond Pink TEAM call Gabbi DeWitt of the Beyond Pink TEAM at 319-292-2225 or Michelle Berridge Scoville of Panera Bread of Iowa at 319-365-9093 x 213. The Beyond Pink TEAM focuses on breast cancer in the Cedar Valley.
