The mission of Iowa Breast Cancer Edu-Action (IBCE) is to serve as a catalyst for the prevention and cure of breast cancer. Members are breast cancer survivors and their supporters. Christine Carpenter formed IBCE in 1997, after attending leadership training through the National Breast Cancer Coalition. The group continues to support NBCC priorities.

The major goals of IBCE are:
  • To make the issues related to breast cancer priorities for local, state, and national action.
  • To empower women to become active participants in the medical and legal decisions relating to breast cancer.
  • To motivate and educate individuals to advocate for women to have the best available screening, diagnosis, and treatment for breast cancer.

IBCE members have visited our congressional representatives to secure their commitment or research, and have participated in fax and letter writing campaigns to Congress for a commitment to a national strategy for the fight against breast cancer.

IBCE's most ambitious project to date has been the creation, printing and distribution of the over 4,000 copies of the Iowa Breast Cancer Resource Guide. You can download a copy of the guide or the Serbo-Croatian translated guide, by clicking on the underlined links.
